After urgent needs have been met, HHMD focuses on longer term goals to help families gain stability or enhance their quality of life. To address a lack of safe housing for families, HHMD implemented a housing program for families in transition. Additionally, HHMD partners with local companies for employment opportunities which ultimately result in stable employment. After these needs have been met, HHMD can assist with the hurdles of childcare and transportation.

COACHING

One-on-One Coaching

Helping Hand Me Downs offers a free eight-week, one-on-one coaching program for individuals who want support as they work toward a goal, navigate a challenge, or create meaningful change in their lives. Coaching is a collaborative process. We work with certified health and wellness coach Beth Geolat to help you clarify what you want, recognize the challenges that are keeping you feeling stuck, consider new perspectives, and identify practical steps you can take moving forward.

How It Works

The process begins with a complimentary 15-minute introductory call with Beth. This gives you an opportunity to share what you are hoping to receive from coaching, ask questions, and determine whether the program feels like the right fit. If you decide to move forward, you will begin with a 45-minute session to discuss your goals and what you would like to work on during the eight weeks. Additional 30-minute sessions will be scheduled weekly or every other week, based on the level of support you and Beth agree upon.

Coaching vs. Therapy

Therapy is healthcare provided by a licensed mental health professional who may diagnose and treat mental health conditions, address trauma, or support someone experiencing significant emotional distress. Coaching is not mental health treatment. Instead, it focuses on helping you gain clarity, create new habits, and identify the steps toward your goals. Some people participate in both coaching and therapy because they provide different types of support.

Program Expectations

This program may be a good fit for someone who is open to reflection, willing to take the steps necessary for growth , and ready to take an active role in the coaching process. Participants are expected to attend their scheduled sessions, communicate in advance when they need to cancel or reschedule, and follow through on the next steps they identify with Beth. Because coaching availability is limited, more than one missed appointment without notice may result in the coaching spot being offered to someone else.

HHMD will provide your information to Beth so that she can contact you about scheduling an introductory call.
